This is my first time participating in the Toronto Fire Fighters Celtic Society Memorial Ride to Ottawa. This September, 71 active and retired firefighters will be riding our bikes from Hamilton to Ottawa over three days, arriving at the Canadian Firefighters Memorial. The Canadian Firefighter Memorial is held annually to honour, remember and support the families of firefighters whose lives were lost in the line of duty. A line of duty death (LODD) can take many forms, physical and psychological, from death while performing your duties, illnesses as a result of exposure or PTSD from stressful encounters.
