20th Anniversary of 9/11 Event - We are happy to announce again this year, we will have a representative from the CFFF on-site to greet us and announce the names of the 343 brothers we lost on 9/11. OFD Training will be proudly hosting another 9/11 remembrance event that will test participants mentally and physically. This event is a humbling reminder of the extreme sacrifice and dedication to saving lives our 343 brothers went through that day. Last year we raised just over $2000 for the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation. We are asking if participants can make a minimum donation of $20 the day of the event plus and we have a campaign set up through the the CFFF website so friends and family can donate to our team as well. We are also proud to say that 50% of the cash donations made the day of the event will go to our very own benevolent fund to support their continued efforts to support others in our community.
Event date and Details
Saturday, Sept 11, 6 am sharp start at the Training Campus Combat Challenge Tower
Stair climb X 20, participants can do this how ever you want… Full gear on SCBA with hose/tools or just climbing in shorts and a t-shirt.
After this, we will meet up in North Milton 9am sharp, at a Bruce Trailhead and hike 30kms round trip. Once again, participants can go with weighted vests and packs or just a t-shirt and shorts. (Count on Roughly 6hr hiking trip)
This will be a rain or shine event and we want to encourage as many participants as possible. Last year we had several brothers and sisters participate representing seven different departments.
Covid Precautions here at the campus will be the same as checking in for a shift. We will ask OFD participants to do the usual check-in/self-assessment before gathering at the combat tower.
