Youth Network

The Youth Network gives refugee and newcomer youth a voice to address challenges faced by newcomer youth and a space to share ideas on how to meet these challenges.

The Youth Network works within a gender justice and anti-oppression framework.

The CCR Youth Network began in 2006 and has evolved through online discussions, teleconferences, the organization of youth-led workshops and strategy sessions and the development of youth-driven projects.

All of those actions were designed in order to give newcomer youth a voice and to address the many challenges that they face. Through our projects, we promote artistry, confidence, and self-expression amongst refugee and newcomer youth.

The CCR needs your support to continue:

Raising voices in favour of refugees The CCR speaks out about the impact on refugees of slow processing and unfair rules. We pay particular attention to the most vulnerable, including children.

Educating the public When Canadians know about the realities and contributions of refugees and immigrants, they welcome them into their communities.

Defending refugee rights in the courts The CCR ensures that the voice of refugees is heard in important court cases.

Reuniting families Many families are now reunited in Canada with some help from the CCR.

Engaging newcomer youth Newcomer youth have an enormous amount to contribute, when given the chance.

Facilitating networking across Canada The CCR connects organizations working across Canada to support refugees and immigrants. Together they share information, identify emerging issues and plan joint action to address the pressing issues affecting refugees and immigrants in Canada.

Our results

The CCR serves the networking, information-exchange and advocacy needs of our membership made of 200 organizations involved in the settlement, sponsorship and protection of refugees and immigrants.
