Canadian Congenital Heart Alliance

about

Canadian Congenital Heart Alliance (CCHA) is the only national organization supporting children and adults living with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD).

1 in 100 – That is the number of Canadian children born with a heart defect, making it Canada's #1 birth defect. In the past, few made it beyond their teen years but thanks to incredible medical advancements today 95% will survive into adulthood and beyond. Unfortunately resources, support and research is lacking and underfunded.

Today more than 250,000 Canadians are living with CHD – ranging from simple heart defects to complex structural anomalies. Sadly, there is no cure. Many will require specialized, life-long cardiac care. Those with complex defects face the prospect of complications, multiple surgeries and/or premature death. Many will struggle with anxiety, depression, isolation and finances.

CCHA is an organization made up of children and adults with congenital heart disease, their friends and family, and the professional medical community. With your support, CCHA can continue to grow our CHD community, fostering compassion, empowerment, and collaboration, as well as helping us to succeed in our endeavours and projects that will positively advance our community forward.
