About Canadian Association of the Deaf
The Canadian Association of the Deaf (CAD) is the oldest national group in Canada for persons with disabilities. It was founded in 1940 and federally incorporated as a non-profit charitable association in 1948.
CAD was created with a mandate to promote and protect the rights, needs, and concerns of Deaf Canadians whose preferred method of communication is through Sign Language. Since 1940, it has been doing just that – pointing out federal and provincial legislation that discriminates against Deaf Canadians. Help us remove all the barriers that remain.
