About the Canadian Animal Assistance Team
Have you ever wanted to help make a difference in the lives of animals in under-served and remote areas of our country?
We understand that many people have a tremendous passion for the humane treatment and well-being of all animals. As the Canadian Animal Assistance Team we share that same passion and have been providing professional veterinary care where it is most needed, at home and abroad since 2005.
The Canadian Animal Assistance Team (CAAT) is a registered group of veterinary technologists, veterinary assistants, veterinarians and people passionate about animal welfare, dedicated to providing veterinary medicine and humane education in support of animals in need while supporting the local community leaders in developing their own sustainable animal welfare plans.
Through CAAT’s Animal Health Care Clinics, we provides the veterinary services of sterilization, vaccination and parasite control. Our program is based on the ONE HEALTH philosophy. The health of animals, the health of people and the health of a community are undeniably intertwined. In providing care for the animals, we can also have a direct effect on the health of the people and the health of the community as a whole.
95% of our work is in Indigenous communities in Canada. We work with the community leaders to support the development of a Community Animal Management Plan (CAMP) to improve the welfare of the animals in a sustainable way.
We do provide veterinary services (with our volunteer CAAT members) by holding temporary clinics right in the community. We set up our MASH style field hospitals right in the host community to provide services at no charge to those in need. We work with the leadership and community members to create unique sustainable local initiatives for their unique set of needs for the animals.
Your donation will help us help countless animals and provide them with the treatment they need and deserve, as well as help us to support local initiatives.
