The Canadian Academy of Geriatric Psychiatry (CAGP) is centred around Geriatric Psychiatry, a psychiatric subspecialty focused on the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of complex mental disorders uniquely occurring in late life.

The CAGP is involved with a variety of activities to promote and advocate for seniors mental health. Since its inception, the CAGP, has been committed to education of students, residents, fellows and continuing advancement in the field of geriatric psychiatry for physicians and allied health practitioners.

Through the CAGP, the Canadian Coalition for Seniors’ Mental Health (CCSMH) works to advocate for and promote seniors’ mental health and to connect people, ideas, and resources in the interest of research on seniors’ mental health. CCSMH works to facilitate initiatives related to enhancing and promoting seniors’ mental health resources for individuals, their families as well as physicians.
