Prairies Concert Tour, April 28-May 5, 2025
UPDATE (March 21, 2025): Due to the high exchange rate of the US dollar*, we have been unable to meet our fundraising targets in order to cover expenses for our trip to New York City to participate in the music festival at Carnegie Hall. As such, we have made the disappointing decision to cancel that portion of this year's tour.
The tour of the Prairie Provinces will proceed as scheduled, and we continue to raise funds to help defray annual tour expenses. Your gifts will help continue the ministry of the Burman University Singers this year and on future tours.
*Update, March 21, 2025 @ 5:30 pm: The reference to "high exchange rate" refers to the current rate as compared to that of previous choir trips to NYC. In the past, we were able to successfully raise enough to cover trip costs, and so we overestimated how much we would be able to raise against these significantly higher costs. We apologize for not being clearer about this in the earlier update.
Original Message:
The Burman University Singers' annual tour gives us the chance to share our musical gifts and talents with people across North America and even around the world as we showcase the results of our hard work during the school year.
This year's tour begins with a trip across the Prairie provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba where the choir will be singing at churches and schools. Then, as a special feature, the choir will be making a trip to New York City where they have been invited to join other choirs from around the US participate in a music festival at Carnegie Hall!
The annual choir tour is always a special opportunity for the members to bond as a group and make lasting memories as they visit new places and have exciting experiences along the way.
In addition to our group fundraising activities, each choir member has set a goal to raise $2,975 to assist with tour costs.
