As a grade 12 student, I was tasked with creating a capstone project as a graduation requirement. Since hockey has been a big part of my life since I was 5, I wanted to base my project around that. What started as a plan to host a small pickup game with my buddies turned into a large-scale event that I would have almost never thought about taking on. Earlier into the course l had a talk with my careers 12 teacher, Mr. Lay. I explained to him that I wanted to put on a hockey game and he suggested that I go bigger and think about my community. That made me want to get Buddy Check For Jesse involved. Mental health is important and it doesn’t get talked about enough. So to be able to host an event that brings my passion for sport and a good cause together is such an amazing privilege. I am eagerly looking forward to December 23rd and hope to see George Preston Arena packed full of people.
