About BGC Winnipeg

Since 1977 BGC Winnipeg (formerly Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg) has grown to become one of the city's leading youth-serving agencies, operating in areas across the city.

BGC Winnipeg Club experiences provides children and youth with a sense of worthiness, self-value, and self-respect.  This positive sense of self provides children and youth with security, identity, and confidence in who they are and who they are becoming.

Our work takes a preventative and developmental approach to tackling a broad range of critical issues facing young people.  We nourish children with meals and snacks, and we enrich lives through five core program areas promoting healthy development:

• Education and career exploration
• Sports and physical recreation
• Arts and cultural appreciation
• Health awareness and life-skills development
• Leadership and service to community

During the school year we operate 11 community-based Clubs and numerous youth development programs to our members.

During the summer months we operate several programs including the Community School Investigators (CSI) Summer Learning Program for kids, and the Clean Machine and Personalized Employment Program (PEP) for youth.

All of our activities are free of charge and are guided by professional staff and dedicated volunteers who serve over 3,200 children and youth ages 6-18.
