Overview
Want a dog who doesn’t jump all over your guests, and won’t try to steal dinner off your plate? A dog who comes when called and doesn’t take you for a walk? A dog who’s happy at the vets and groomers? Then this class is for you!
This class is designed for friendly adolescent and adult dogs who could use some help polishing up their manners. We teach the basic behaviours using fun exercises and games so that you can have a dog who is truly a joy to live with! Join us and learn foundational obedience skills, self control, and polite manners to incorporate into everyday life.
Here's what we'll cover:
- Basic obedience skills (name attention, sit, down, leave it, drop it)
- Body handling
- Relaxing on a mat and polite manners
- Loose leash walking and recall
100% of your registration fee goes to the SPCA. So not only are you helping your dog by attending but you are helping our dogs too!
Details
Class Details:
Classes will run for 5 weeks on Sunday afternoons, beginning August 25th, 2024 from 3:30PM - 4:30PM. Last class will be on Sunday September 29th, 2024.
*Note: There will be no class on Sunday September 22nd, 2024.*
Requirements:

Dogs must be 6 months of age and older
- Classes are limited to 6 participants, with up to two adult handlers per dog (one must be a primary handler that will attend each week)
- Dogs must be up-to-date on all vaccinations (Rabies, DA2PPV, Bordetella) prior to the beginning of classes
- Dogs must be spayed/neutered (contact us prior to registration if your dog is not)
Registration:

Registration is on a first come first served basis
- Proof of vaccinations and of spay/neuter must be emailed to events@bowvalleyspca.org within 48 hours of registration. Failure to provide documentation within this time period will result in cancellation of registration without refund.
- Registration is not complete until payment, vaccination proof and spay/neuter proof are provided.

A dog that loves people and other dogs

High value treats that your dog finds irresistible and will keep their focus!

Flat buckle quick release collar or harness, tags, and a 6-foot flat leash

And a positive outlook because we’re all about making training fun for everyone!
Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations must be received no later than 5 business days prior to the course. Registrants cancelling after this period or failing to attend a course will be liable for the complete registration fee. Punctual attendance is required.
