about

Columbia Outdoor School provides educational programming focusing on outdoor skill development, environmental science and leadership. We accomplish this through fun, meaningful and collaborative learning experiences in the natural environment.

Columbia Outdoor School offers outreach programming and operates a year-round outdoor education centre, Blue Lake Camp. Blue Lake Camp offers camp experiences as well as education programs for schools, private groups and youth organizations. Our unique programming, outstanding education staff, and incredible facilities have made Blue Lake Camp a top destination for over 40 years.

Columbia Outdoor School is operated by Blue Lake Forest Education Society, a non-profit, charity organization that provides programming focused on local environmental issues and sustainability practices related to forests, wildlife, soils, water, biodiversity and alternative energy. Social development is also at the forefront of the programming mission. The camp community is unlike any other in the opportunities it provides for youth in a positive supportive environment; the impact from attending camp can last a lifetime.

Through overnight camp programs, youth learn about their environment is a way that makes exploring the world exciting and fun. Youth live in a supportive camp community while learning important lessons about sustainability. Participation offers campers the chance to develop important decision-making and problem solving skills, develop meaningful relationships, and a chance to bolster self-esteem. Traditional camp activities such as swimming, canoeing, hiking, skit nights, games and campfires make the camp experience fun.

The Outdoor Youth Leadership School is designed for teens with an interest in gaining outdoor skills and learning more about themselves in the process. Through the challenges of wilderness expeditions, these programs take the participants on a journey of adventure, leadership, and personal growth. Campers’ experiences are brought home and shared with families and friends to create stronger and healthier communities.

Please consider donating to the campership fund to create a positive, life-long impact in a child’s life.
