Recent Highlights and achievements!
- The Future Leaders Youth Council is a passionate group of Grades 9-12 students like Ko and Olivia who are acting and organizing environmental action projects throughout the Bow Valley!
- Future Leaders Youth Council Members like Olivia and Ko are doing amazing things in their community such as recording radio segments about environmental topics, working on policy change regarding Alberta's temporary ban on renewable energies and more! "Throughout all of these events, I have learned that I am not as alone as I once thought, and that there are many other teens who care about the environment and are willing to dedicate their time to helping preserve it." - Olivia (she/her, 17 years old)
- In the fall of 2023, the Grade 3 class at Nôtre Dame des Monts welcomed a colony of Red Wiggler worms into their classroom. Each week, the students feed the worms their lunch scraps. The budding scientists noticed how the worms are transforming their food waste into castings. One student remarked, “it’s com-poop!” Exactly. The compost they fed to the worms is transformed into worm castings ().
- For $25, you can support a worm colony for one classroom. Your donation supports students learning about food sustainability and soil science!
- For $50, you can support the cost of paint, beads and program art supplies!
- For $100, you can support a pizza dinner for the Future Leaders Youth Council and their environmental action projects!
- For $500, you can support a youth on a backpacking environmental education trip!
