Unique, values-based, sustainability-minded, and inclusive educational opportunities rich in outdoor education and inquiry-based learning.
The Bioregional Education Association operates Oak and Orca Bioregional School - a secular and values-based brick and mortar school in Victoria BC - as well as Oak & Orca School (DL) - which extends the brick and mortar school's model to support to students and families all over BC who are learning at home. Our educators and staff are passionate about offering all students an opportunity to learn in an inquiry-based, compassionate, and supportive environment. Both schools are BC Ministry of Education Certified Independent Schools and follow the BC Curriculum.
Our vision is to provide educational opportunities that empower children to create fundamental social change towards more fulfilling and ecologically sustainable communities. To this end, we have chosen a teaching approach that models bioregional philosophies and provides freedom of expression and choice to students.
Our guiding principles include:
- offering affordable, inclusive, and accessible education,
- supporting local, ecologically sound economies, and
- respecting the integrity of the natural environment in which we live.
