In 2022, Bikes Without Borders fell just shy of our goal of refurbishing and distributing 1000 bikes to Toronto-area newcomers and overseas, but nevertheless, we managed an 80% increase over 2021, and as of Nov. 30, 2022 we have distributed over 600 bikes and are on pace to reach 650.

We implemented several huge operations improvements in 2022, including a permanent space at Amsterdam Brewery, a full-time operations director, a robust inventory system, and several partnerships with newcomer organizations. 1000 bikes is well within reach in 2023.

Each $150 donated covers the cost to refurbish and distribute a used bike to a newcomer in need, along with a helmet, lights and bell. These bikes help newcomers access employment, training, education and recreation opportunities that they might not otherwise have had access to.
