Overview

Our 2017 Benefit Cocktail Party takes place on Wednesday, November 1 in our beautiful heritage building that’s a National Historic Site. As in previous years, the event will include a fabulous silent auction and tasty smoked meat. Global Montreal anchor/reporter Amanda Jelowicki is emceeing and the fabulous Dave Turner Jazz Trio are playing.

This year’s Guest of Honour is Michael St. B. Harrison in recognition of his generous and effective community service as a volunteer, advocate and donor, as well as his important contributions to the economy of Montreal.

Details

Our annual fundraiser generates awareness of our organization and regularly contributes significant funds for community educational and cultural programs and services – a vital part of our modest annual budget of about $550,000. This year our need for support is more compelling than ever. There are growing community demands for our services plus pressure to spend to conserve our 98-year-old heritage building.

About This Charity

We serve everyone and attract over 100,000 user visits a year. In addition, we do extensive community outreach and partner with a host of groups and schools. We are a registered charity with a mission to foster learning and contribute to the development of the Montreal community. In this respect, we are like the YMCA, Y des Femmes and Tyndale St-Georges Community Centre. We have deep roots in Montreal, yet are a modern, innovative community resource centre. More than just books, we offer courses and workshops to help young and old master technology in the digital age, a state-of-the art computer centre, literary and educational events, exhibitions on literature and history, meeting space for community groups, and much more. We depend primarily on private donations and volunteer service for our vitality, and invite your support as a member, a donor and/or a volunteer.
