We are a community which seeks to be a safe, accessible, and welcoming place where people of all ages, genders, sexual orientations, races, cultures, abilities, and backgrounds can learn, serve, and lead. In our worship, our activities and our community work we are called "to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with God." (Micah 6)

Church of the Ascension is located by the Rideau Canada in Old Ottawa East. We acknowledge that we live and worship on the traditional and unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishnabe nation.

We strive for justice and peace through activities such as refugee sponsorship and settlement; learning and responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action; participating in social justice activities such as the Ottawa Pride Parade; and continually striving to be better stewards of God’s creation.

Church of the Ascension seeks to reach beyond Sunday to nurture the faith of all who desire to grow – children, youth and adults alike. The Rev. Rhonda Waters has been our priest since 2016. Our worship services are enlivened by a dedicated Music Director and are enriched by music, poetry, dance, visual and other arts contributed by parishioners.

Our Jazz and Chamber Concert Series is currently on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our rich history dates back to 1877. Church of the Ascension is a parish of the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa, and the Anglican Church of Canada.
