Our Mission
To support the mission of Algoma Family Services by providing funding to support children with mental health problems and their families in the Algoma District.
The Foundation serves to:
Promote the services of Algoma Family Services to generate heightened community awareness of the specific needs of children with mental health problems and the services available to assist them.
Provide meaningful opportunities for the community to help resource mental health programs for children and youth in Algoma which would otherwise not be available through provincial funding.
Engage in fundraising activities that ensure community respect and support for children with mental health problems.
Ensure strong stewardship in the management of all entrusted funds.
About ALGOMA FAMILY SERVICES FOUNDATION
The Foundation was established to support children’s mental health programs and services offered through Algoma Family Services.
Through funds raised in our community, the Foundation has supported programs such as:
Therapeutic Group Counseling for children & families going through Separation and Divorce.
Group Counseling for Social Skills and Self- Esteem Development in children and adolescents at risk.
‘Let’s Chat’ a group for adolescent girls dealing with depression.
Summer camp programs for AFS clients at Heyden Adventure Base Camp as well as client sponsorships.
The Treatment Foster Care Program which provides supportive out-of-home care for troubled youth.
Rebound North, a volunteer based social/life skills program for youth 12 to 17 years old.
Psychological Assessment Tools to ensure our clinicians are using the most effective tools & techniques to treat children with mental health problems.
Training workshops for parents
