During this series, you'll get to learn from environmental leaders in your own community that are working toward meaningful environmental change that not only protects our environment but also enriches our lives.
After learning from these leaders and connecting with them through a Q&A and networking session, you'll leave feeling empowered and inspired to take the next step toward positive change for our environment.

Meet our Speakers
May Wong
May is VP of Strategy, Forecasting & Sustainability at Capital Power with 20 years of electricity industry experience. She’s leading Capital Power’s corporate strategy, including the overall integration of sustainability priorities along with ESG disclosure and reporting. May also leads Capital Power’s corporate analytics and commodity risk management team responsible for the development of market assessment analytics across North American power markets in support of financial planning, corporate strategy, commercial as well as business development. Ms. Wong holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta and an MBA degree from the University of British Columbia.
What will May be talking about?

Michelle Holland
Michelle is the Assistant Manager for WILD Outside in Western Canada. Her work with the Canadian Wildlife Federation has enabled her to continue her passion and career path in environmental education. Michelle was born and raised in Edmonton and holds both a Biological Sciences diploma from NAIT (from which she just won an Alumni Award!) and a Bachelor of Science degree. She loves helping youth and emerging educators become more familiar with their natural world and more passionate about conserving it.
What will Michelle be talking about?
How both fun outdoor recreation events and community service projects can help generate a conservation ethic in young people.
Patty Milligan
Patty is Agriculture Education Specialist with Explore Edmonton. Her job is to connect people to Food and Farming across several programs including K-Days, Farmfair, and most of all the Edmonton Urban Farm. Patty has worked with honeybees since 1989; spent years working with Edmonton-area farmers markets, and enjoys watching food-related community initiatives of all types take off!
What will Patty be talking about?
The role that initiatives like the Edmonton Urban Farm play in the efficient use of excess urban land and the building of resilient communities.
Steve McIsaac
Steve is Executive Director of Inside Education, a role he has held officially since his wedding night (true story!) Prior to this role, he served as Program Director, and prior to that was Inside Education's first-ever B.Ed. staff person. In addition to leading a team of 14 profoundly amazing professionals at Inside Education, he also leads a pack of two giant dogs. Steve was extremely proud to have been recognized in 2022 with the Lifetime Achievement Emerald Award though is quite certain he's way too young for such recognition.

How we can educate young people about the environment through innovations, personal connections and stories to inspire them to take action.
