Our Mission

We are a non-profit, charitable organization with a mission to support members and work together to end domestic violence and abuse. ACWS takes action to transform the beliefs, attitudes and behaviours that perpetuate violence against women, children and seniors through increased public awareness and conversation. About This Cause

Alberta Council of Women's Shelters (ACWS) is a province-wide voluntary organization. In concert with our members, ACWS shares and develops knowledge, resources and connections to steadily advance responses to domestic violence and abuse.

As the collective voice for domestic violence shelters in the province, we seek to improve public policy and systems, increase public awareness of issues related to family violence and to foster professional development within Alberta's sheltering movement.

Our vision is a world free from violence and abuse.
