Pacific Public Health Foundation is the only charitable foundation in BC actively fundraising for public health initiatives with, and in support of our partners. We are an independent, non-governmental organization which leads in public health philanthropy, engaging and investing in innovative, collaborative, and evidence-based initiatives that improve population health for people across BC.

With the help of our donors, we support and implement evidence-based and equity-driven research, practice, and policy initiatives to improve the health of people and communities in British Columbia. A persistent lack of investment in public health has a significant impact that means essential programs, which have the potential to enhance the well-being, fairness, and resilience of our communities, often fall short of realizing their full potential. While it is crucial to have acute healthcare services to care for people when they become ill or get injured, many of these initiatives are reactive; they are less equipped to address broader needs and tend to focus on treating health problems after they've already occurred, rather than preventing them in the first place.
In contrast, the population health strategies we fund and support take a proactive approach. They tackle the underlying causes of health issues, essentially moving "upstream" to prevent problems before they even occur. This proactive stance allows us to prioritize the well-being of individuals and place the healthy human at the centre of everything we do.

Our unique and nimble role allows us to bring together philanthropy, funding, partnerships, engagement, and advocacy to achieve our mission, and advance our vision. We believe that our collective strength is greater, and our potential for accomplishing more is amplified, when we work together in collaboration. Since our inception, our Foundation has closely collaborated with the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC), and over the past decade, our efforts have grown to address a wider array of public health challenges in British Columbia, providing crucial support to communities facing disparities.
Our partnership with the BCCDC, and the provincial public health services in British Columbia, remains robust, and we work to continually to strengthen vital relationships with governmental organizations at various levels including community organizations at the forefront of public health. These partnerships drive the development of programs and projects aligned with the province's public health priorities, fostering innovation in research, practice, and policy.
