Enterprise4Good is a global organization focused on engaging and connecting people who care. We are made up of several entities all with the aim of creating caring communities and helping those in need.

We started as a program founded in 1979 by parents of children with cerebral palsy. The program was housed at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, and provided information and education related to assistive technology to children with special needs and their families. We quickly realized that we had the capability of not only assisting children and their families, but also adults with special needs as well.

In 1984 we became a nonprofit, charitable organization named the Technical Resource Centre and in 1998, we adopted the Social Enterprise model of nonprofit financial self-sustainability and re-branded as the Ability Society incorporating seniors into the mission and mandate of the Society while continuing to be an advocate for persons with special needs in the community.

Today we are Enterprise4Good, successfully operating under the Social Enterprise model.  We are not reliant on the traditional fundraising model which is always perilous and inconsistent funding. We focus on providing services where they are needed most, which are self-sustaining, cause-related and entrepreneurial.

Currently the following three enterprises operate under Enterprise4Good:

Ability4Good provides clinical services for children with special needs, the main diagnosis being Autism. We provide a wide variety programs and services for approximately 1200 children plus their families in Calgary and another 200 in Edmonton. 

Friends4Good provides safe, fulfilling international project experiences that are truly life changing. Friends4Good has been taking groups of volunteers around the world since 2005 to help communities and improve the quality of life for people in need around the world. Brick by brick our groups are building schools, teacher’s housing, dormitories, and most of all, forming life changing relationships.

Homes4Good provides quality, affordable accommodation to seniors and those with special needs. Any additional revenue generated from the enterprise is used to enhance or expand current facilities allowing us to improve the living experience, quality of life and meet the needs of our current and future tenants.

Good4U is a retail store that accepts donated usable business and household items and then resells them at our Calgary location
