Developments in Literacy (DIL) is a not-for-profit global agency that is dedicated to providing education to disadvantaged children in Pakistan.

DIL Canada operates under the auspices of a Canada-based Board of Directors. DIL Canada was granted tax-exempt status by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) on June 1, 2010 (registration number 84448 0467 RR0001). 

DIL Canada’s programs are implemented in collaboration with DIL Pakistan which was registered in July 2000 in Pakistan under the Societies Registration Act 1860. All members of the Board of Directors are volunteers and serve without compensation.

DIL believes that no child, no matter how poor or underprivileged, should be denied access to quality education. All children should have equal opportunity to reach their full potential and contribute toward the socio-economic betterment of their communities.

DIL educates and empowers underprivileged students, especially girls, by operating student-centered model schools; and provides high-quality professional development to teachers and principals across Pakistan.
