Black & Blues is a two-hour Sunday night program from 9-11 p.m. presented by John Tackaberry featuring blues, rhythm and blues and 60s soul.
The first hour includes profiles of musicians or selections from specialized record labels.
The second hour features "new and reissued blues and rhythm and blues tracks on wax" and alternates with "live blues and R&B for a Sunday night". In the second hour of the last Sunday of every month there is a "down in the delta and in the spirit" segment of gospel and acoustic tracks.
I volunteer at CKCU because I want to share this great music that I have collected for years.
Since October 1978 I have been on CKCU, first for Meantown Blues and then from March 1983 on Black & Blues, a name better reflecting the variety of music played. From February 1979 to November 1995 I also presented 1 1/2 hour acoustic blues show Slidin Delta on Wednesday nights.
Beyond blues, R&B and soul I also listen to jazz, folk and African/World music.
