Dedicated to avian conservation through research and education.

We have been monitoring birds in northern Alberta since 1994. As a non-governmental, non-profit organization we rely on grants and donations to continue our research and outreach.

Alongside variable short-term projects, we have four core programs: (1) Spring and (2) Fall Migration Monitoring count every bird encountered and captures a sample of songbirds daily in each period. This data contributes to the Canadian Migration Monitoring Network's trend analysis program and other studies. (3) Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship periodically captures breeding songbirds and is the longest running MAPS dataset within the Boreal Forest. (4) Since 2004, we have captured Northern Saw-whet Owls during their fall migrations. With these programs come unique educational opportunities that reach around 1,000 people a year!
