Our Mission
The Taylor Statten Camping Bursary Fund was established in 1972 by the staff and alumni of camps Ahmek and Wapomeo with the belief that summer camp can be an important experience in a child's life. It can build self-confidence, encourage teamwork, leadership and an appreciation of nature, as well as being just plain fun! It is in this spirit that we eagerly look to share these experiences by helping bridge the gap between camp fees and what the parents can realistically afford.
The funds can be put towards attending any camp that is an accredited member of the Ontario Camping Association or the Canadian Camping Association and is willing to contribute to the Fund by offering a satisfactory fee reduction. In addition to demonstrated financial need, the Fund seeks to place campers from the age of 11 on who have shown leadership qualities in their young lives. Once accepted for sponsorship, the Fund will provide annual financial assistance to the camper for as many years as required.
About TAYLOR STATTEN CAMPING BURSARY FUND
The Taylor Statten Camping Bursary Fund (the "Bursary Fund") has been established with the dual objects of (i) providing financial assistance to needy children to permit them to attend summer camp for one month at a qualifying summer camp of their choice, and (ii) to donate funds to similar organizations that are qualified donees under the Income Tax Act (Canada) and that serve as vehicles for children to acquire camping experience in the Canadian wilderness, or that are otherwise dedicated to the advancement of children.
