We operate a Drop In Centre for the homeless, hungry and hurting in Halifax, Bridgewater, Truro Lower Sackville, & Sydney Mines where we serve more than 100,000 hot, nutritious meals each year.

Our Mission

To rescue people from poverty, addiction and despair by offering emergency help, such as food, clothing and shelter, life-changing recovery programs, and the Gospel Message.

Drop In Hours:

Halifax: Mon - Fri 1:00 to 3:00, Sat 12-1:00

Bridgewater, Truro, Lower Sackville *& Sydney Mines: Mon - Fri 1:00 -3:00

(Closed some stats.) A hot nutritious lunch is served daily. There is music and movies on the big screen TV, the daily papers for job searches, free local calls, internet for resume building and connecting with family, free stamps for mailing letters and resumes, free clothing and household goods, and a Christian lending library. We have a committed group of staff and volunteers that bring a smile and hope to our guests. Rev Ken offers one-on-one pastoral counselling.

Rev Ken & Michelle Porter have 25 years experience in the field of addictions recovery. They have assisted over 100 men and women off the streets and into a new life.

We also serve 3-course holiday dinners at Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and sometimes even Christmas in July, on July 25th!

Our Impact

In Nova Scotia, we can see up to 2000 people who are homeless, most of them in the Halifax area. When we say “homeless” we mean people living on the streets or in shelters. There is a larger segment of the population, the hidden homeless, who are at risk of homelessness--women who shack up with a man just for a place to live, youth who couch surf and stay with whomever will put them up for a night or two, or women caught up in sex trafficking who are being held in secret. There are also those who are lonely - seniors, single moms, all on fixed incomes. And the working poor who need a little help to make ends meet each month.
