Join me Scott Raabis, former Schizophrenia Society Partnership Education program presenter, and United Way of Central Alberta client ambassador in raising awareness and reducing the stigma associated with schizophrenia!
I do not pay much mind to stigma anymore, because my daily life involves chewing up and digesting the stigma that exists in a very real way for those of us with this diagnosis.
Recovery is possible through attacking this mental illness from all angles including pharmaceutical treatment, community involvement, and one's own personal medicine that includes those x-factor choices that are unique to individuals, such as yoga, wilderness connections, academia, community commitments, nutrition, athleticism, and self-improvement of any flavour.
The Schizophrenia Society of Alberta (SSA) is hosting the Annual Strides of Hope Walk on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm, in honor of World Schizophrenia Day! Wear purple, snap a photo, and share it on your social media using the hashtags #WorldSchizophreniaDay and #SSAStridesofHope. We'll depart from 4809 48 Ave, Red Deer, AB, and all are welcome to walk.
Make a donation! Click on the 'Donate Now' button on this page. All funds raised go towards the Schizophrenia Society of Alberta's programs and services that are offered in six Alberta communities through 6 branches and 3 housing programs.
