About ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH
St. John's is the oldest Lutheran church in Montreal, founded in 1853; the current building was erected in 1908. Although of German heritage, today it is ethnically and racially diverse. Mission in music is an important part of our tradition; both classical and modern. The church houses a Helmuth Wolff organ. Weekly services since the pandemic (March 2020) are now one service only at 11 a.m. Presently the services alternate between a hybrid German-English service and an English service following our Worship Book (Evangelical Lutheran Worship). Depending on pandemic developments we may return to a full German-language service and weekly English services. All services are Eucharists, according to regulations in force. Sunday School is presently on-line, via a Sunday School Facebook group.
