Our Mission
Iona College is a people centered educational environment that welcomes and encourages growth in body, mind and spirit. Iona College is an ecumenical and inter-faith college on the campus of the University of Windsor. Through faith in God, we are committed to social justice and spiritual renewal. We provide cultural, religious, and educational programs for university students and the wider community.
With support from representatives from a half-dozen faith communities and traditions, and in co-operation with our partners in the Chaplaincy Network and the University, Iona serves the students, faculty, and staff of the University, as well as the surrounding community.
Our programs include student dinners, the Campus food bank, our bursaries, and educational programs. Over the coming years, we hope to broaden our course offerings and improve the food bank and other programs. One of the reasons for becoming an ecumenical and interfaith college is so that we can relaunch our chaplaincy work to embrace all faith groups.
Motto:
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things unseen.
-Hebrews 11:1
About IONA COLLEGE
Iona College operates out of the University of Windsor campus in Windsor, Ontario. It was established in 1964 as the United Church of Canada College affiliated with the University of Windsor. Iona has played and continues to play an important role in linking the needs of people from the university, community and church.
The Campus Food Bank, in partnership with Canterbury College, helps stock the cupboards for the students of the University of Windsor in hopes to help the students eat healthy, nutritious food.
Iona particularly thanks the Student Law Association at the University of Windsor’s Faculty of Law for their ongoing support via their hosting of the Amicus Curiae Café. The generous patronage of the students, faculty, and staff of the Law Faculty has kept the food bank operating. We look forward to continuing this partnership and building on it.
