Our Mission

10 Gates Dancing Inc. was formed in 1998 by renowned choreographer Tedd Robinson, with a vision to promote the development and performance of contemporary dance creations. Now under the artistic leadership of B-boy Crazy Smooth, one of Canada’s top street dance ambassadors, a choreographer, dancer, sought after instructor, judge, and community leader, Smooth brings his authentic street dance aesthetic and years of teaching experience to 10 Gates Dancing, where he plans to continue Tedd’s work, now with a focus on the street dance community.

Through the teaching, creation and performance of these works, 10 Gates provides entry points for the education of the public to authentic and theatrical street dance works. Since its inception, the company has created an exceptional body of work for some of the most renowned dance artists and companies in Canada and has held a unique role in the field of dance through its mentorship activities with choreographers in Canada and abroad. 

About 10 GATES DANCING

One wing of 10 Gates Dancing is devoted to the nurturing and mentorship of young street dance choreographers and dancers. This is realized through the Opening Gates Creation (OGC) Program, a 10-day curriculum program held across Canada, to develop choreographic works with eight person cohorts and professional mentorship, to be launched in the 2024-2025 season.
