As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, economies and social services are still facing severe strain in response to the global health crisis. Now, with vaccination numbers rising, the future looks brighter but the fight is far from over.
Over a year later, Canadian food banks continue to see increased demand due to job losses and the limited availability of essential social services. Crisis lines supporting people experiencing mental health issues and families experiencing domestic violence have also reported an increase in calls throughout the pandemic. Charities are overwhelmed supporting refugees, isolated seniors, children, people experiencing homelessness, and other vulnerable people who need access to emergency food, housing, and additional urgent needs in Canada.
Your tax-deductible donation to the CanadaHelps COVID-19 Community Care Fund will help Canadian registered charities leading vital work to respond to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, including those providing basic needs such as food and shelter. Plus, your tax-deductible donation will be pooled with gifts from other generous Canadians to make an even greater impact.
Should the funds raised exceed the amount required to meet immediate and longer-term needs in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, excess funds will be used by these charities for other important initiatives.
We’re proud that we have raised over $1 million dollars with the help of The Gore Mutual Foundation, who matched the first $1 million we raised. You can continue to help us make an even greater impact by donating today!
The CanadaHelps COVID-19 Community Care Fund includes 500 registered charities who are supporting urgent needs in response to COVID-19. These charities are supporting emergency food, housing, and the unique needs of vulnerable communities such as children and seniors who are at most risk due to isolation and social distancing in Canada.
To ensure donations reach charities easily and efficiently, charities must be one of the 20,000 charities registered to receive funds electronically from CanadaHelps. Funds will be transferred quarterly, subject to a minimum of $10 per charity.
We regularly update the list of charities in the CanadaHelps COVID-19 Community Care Fund.
