The Dandelion Dance Company’s repertoire gets chosen, researched and choreographed by the company members (ages 13-19) under the mentorship of Executive Director Hannah Beach. The dance performances are driven by the experiences, reflections and passions of the young women, ages 13 to 19. Topics include children’s rights, hunger, authenticity, mental health, stereotypes, and inclusion, among others. Our stories have a profound impact on audiences, who are often moved to tears, astounded at the raw honesty of our dancers, and inspired to join us in creating positive change!

Some of the stories of our dancers are very personal. For example, one dancer - now a Dandelion alumni - told her story of her experiences and emotions as a person with Down syndrome. This dance explored barriers, inclusion and exclusion, bullying and the power of friendship in helping her to believe in herself and to speak out.

Dandelion Dance™ provides a creative safe space for girls to explore their own ideas through movement and multi-arts exercises.
