About Fundraiser
Fundraiser by Edmonton First Responder sisters
We are a team of female first responders and will run the Edmonton half marathon in uniform in support of our brothers and sisters struggling with PTSD. All funds go to Wounded Warrior Canada.
Sylvie. I am a police officer and former soldier. I served 8 years in the French Army and was deployed three times to Bosnia/Kosovo. I have seen the face of PTSD with both my brothers and sisters in arms. We are trained to face the worst and still accomplish the mission at all cost, including the accumulated personal cost. Even some of the bravest and strongest men and women in the line of service can't cope with the cost of daily living after being exposed to violence and sometimes the worst in humanity. Some memories won't go away but we must remain strong to serve and protect. My sisters and I are running to honour the brave men and women in uniform who have lost their fight of daily living, when their minds could no longer carry the weight of the darkest moments.
Amy My name is Amy. I’m an Advanced Care Paramedic, and in my 10 years as a paramedic, I have cared for 1000’s of people. But we first responders are often so busy taking care of everyone else’s ‘emergencies’ and calls for help that we don’t take care of ourselves, or each other. Running has saved me many times over and so I ‘Run for those who cannot’ and to have the backs of my sisters and brothers in uniform. Thank you for your support.
Our goal is to bring some peace and help our brothers and sisters in all fields by supporting the amazing programs offered by Wounded Warrior Canada. www.woundedwarriors.ca
