Thrive

about

Hidden hunger affects 4 out of 10 people worldwide, trapping them in cycles of illness and poverty. Thrive for Good empowers communities to break free from these cycles by teaching and equipping them to grow an abundance of organic food sustainably. We call the agricultural projects “Life Gardens” because they provide a foundation for flourishing. Gardens give people security, health, income, and a future. Our solution is simple: We help people to grow their own nutritious food sustainably. Thrive provides training, simple tools, and starter seeds, the essentials for growing healthy, disease-fighting foods for a lifetime cost of only US $15 per person. The outcomes are transformative. Families get ahead. Children flourish and reach their potential. People have hope for a better future. When people grow their own nutritious food, they thrive! Thrive focuses on those living in extreme poverty—anyone challenged to meet basic human needs, including the need for food security and nutrition. Thrive projects are inclusive. We work with people who are ready to change by working with us to create Life Gardens. Thrive for Good’s focus is concentrated in Africa and South Asia, where the largest populations live in extreme poverty. In these regions, the growing season allows us to produce food year-round. Every area has unique challenges to growing, but Thrive can set up gardens anywhere land, sun, and water are available. Thrive for Good projects are fast to start, too, so they can be established in areas where food shortages are anticipated. It takes just three months to develop flourishing gardens. Thrive for Good partners with not-for-profit and governmental organizations to expand our impact. Through these partnerships, we tap into existing networks and communities. Thrive for Good helps our partners achieve their missions by bringing health and food security to the people they serve. Thrive for Good has created a transformative model for addressing extreme poverty. We developed and tested this approach by working closely with the people we have served since 2008. From our founding, Thrive for Good has committed to a bold promise: 100% of your donations go directly to funding programs and operations. Donations cover training, seeds, and basic materials for community gardens. Every donation is spent in the communities where Thrive works. We can deliver on this radical commitment because Thrive keeps overhead costs low. We are grateful to a few major donors and to Natural Calm Canada and Bolton’s Naturals, Canadian social enterprises that donate 100% of their profits to cover Thrive for Good salaries, marketing, fundraising, and administrative costs in Canada. Every USD $15 donated provides the training, seeds, and simple tools needed for one person to grow organic, nutritious food for a lifetime. Let’s break that down…A typical Thrive Life Garden consists of approximately 50 garden beds on ¼ acres. (That’s the size of about four tennis courts.) It’s managed by 20 people and on average, can feed between 50-70 people daily.
