Our Mission
Since 1995, TGC has developed projects to address many environmental issues including climate change, waste reduction, atmospheric pollution, and stream water management.
Our mission is to inspire, facilitate and support diverse communities in developing an environmentally sustainable city through education, engagement and joint neighbourhood initiatives.
Our Vision is of engaged and connected communities thriving in a sustainable Toronto.
About TORONTO GREEN COMMUNITY
Our current initiatives include:
Community Eco-Gardens engage children & adults from diverse communities in ecological gardening and food security initiatives.
Lost Rivers researches, documents and provides guided public walks along buried waterways to find out how human and natural systems form our urban life support system.
Rivers Rising connects newcomer and Indigenous communities through neighbourhood tours that reveal stories of local food, water, and culture, in order to nurture community-building and ecological initiatives towards creating a blue-green city together.
RAINscapeTO offers eco-landscaping solutions including the installation of rain gardens which capture and reuse rainwater, reducing stormwater run-off and pollution while conserving tap water and mitigating flooding.
