About Invermere Companion Animal Network (ICAN) Society
ICAN is a small volunteer-run, no kill animal rescue in Invermere, B.C. The shelter is run by volunteers in conjunction with a paid part-time administrative officer, and rescue operations are performed entirely by volunteers. They all do an amazing job at keeping the animals healthy and happy while they wait for their new homes. ICAN was founded in May of 2007 and since that time, we have assisted with over 2,000 companion animals. We spay and neuter all animals who come to our shelter, before they are adopted out to new homes. We believe spay/neuter is the only way to combat the pet overpopulation problems all over the world.
We are in the process of launching a capital campaign to enable us to build a new shelter facility. We have outgrown our current one, which is a 110 year old house and it is not set up to be an animal shelter! We know that it could take years to raise the funds necessary, but all donations, large and small alike, help us in making this dream a reality while still carrying on day-by-day operations.
