About LAMBDA FOUNDATION
Lambda Foundation raises money to enable universities to grant awards to outstanding students who, through their scholarly and professional achievements, contribute to new knowledge about 2SLBGTQ+ and QTBIPOC issues. Lambda is also committed to expanding its current high school award program for student leadership in anti-bullying, 2SLBGTQ+/straight, and similar alliances.
Within the 2022-2023 academic year Lambda Foundation has awarded roughly $7,500 in tuition awards and $9,000 in scholarship awards. Our historic endowments are over $100,000 and an estimated $10,000-$20,000 has been dispersed annually back into the Canadian economy!
We are governed by a national Board of Directors who oversee the scholarships and strive to strengthen our existing endowments and create new awards for marginalized youth in partnership with our donors and educational institutions across the country to combat systemic oppression and discrimination.
Our Mission
Our mission is to create graduate and undergraduate university scholarships in research, writing, and other projects pertaining to Two spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, plus (2SLBGTQ+) peoples and queer, trans, Black, Indigenous, and people of colour (QTBIPOC) in all their diversity and to reward 2SLBGTQ+, QTBIPOC, straight alliance and human rights leaders in particular high schools.
Lambda aims to:
• create lasting and worthy legacies for today's and future generations of scholars researching 2SLBGTQ+ and QTBIPOC issues
